Massive AI News — March 2023
GPT-4 Is Here — And Much More
--
I planned to create an AI Newsticker summarizing the latest and greatest AI news at the end of every month. However, so much happened in March that I decided to publish this story already now, despite it still being early in the month.
This story summarizes a number of innovative breakthroughs — starting with the launch of OpenAI’s GPT-4, continuing with exciting AI news from Tesla and Google, and even amusing news from South Park and much more.
OpenAI — Launching GPT-4
Although Chat GPT-3 was already impressive, Sam Altman just announced on Twitter the launch of GPT-4, which includes some benchmarks where it outperforms the former models. [1], [2].
There is a GPT-4 live stream for developers starting this moment on YouTube, held by Greg Brockman, President and Co-Founder of OpenAI, showcasing GPT-4 and some of its capabilities and limitations.
South Park — Episode About ChatGPT
South Park just released an Episode about ChatGPT called “Deep Learning”. Stan needs some dating advice and askes Clyde who is utilizing ChatGPT to write his texts. Both are using the tool more and more to help them with their daily lives, such as writing essays for school. [3], [4]
I am not telling you anymore details to avoid spoilers. Could it be that the whole episode was written by ChatGPT? 😃
Tesla — Robot Optimus Repairing Other Robots
On its Investor Day 2023, Tesla CEO Elon Musk showcased the Optimus Robot walking for the first time. Even more, it has the ability to assemble and repair other robots with incredible precision. WTF — Sounds a bit like I, Robot, doesn’t it?
It is equipped with sensors that allow it to detect changes in its environment and adjust accordingly. Moreover, it is capable of recognizing objects and responding to verbal commands. [5] [6]
